Yesterday, during our monthly cook-along, we made two recipes featuring stale bread: canederli, the hearty bread dumplings from Alto Adige, and torta di pane, a deliciously moist chocolate bread pudding cake studded with prunes and dried figs.

I spent the week collecting stale bread for the cake, and I even bought a loaf of Tuscan bread just to let it go…
