What an honor to get to know each other, our families and our worlds via our writing. It's a true gift to be seen and heard and understood by another writer, and you--Guilia--have been such a gift to me via my time on Substack. I'm so grateful! Thank you for sharing this. x
Indeed! thanks to our writing we got to know each other, our families, and our words. And the things we found in common with our cultures, or with Italy and Hungary, are making the world smaller. I love how you can recreate a sense of home with your words!
Everything about this post is enticing ~ the words, photos, and recipe. Somehow, I have not yet been to eastern Europe. On my list, of course. Your descriptions are lovely.
Well, I think it's in addition to some for greasing dish as this is how English Bread and Butter Pudding made, with bread buttered. Never used apples in it before but I made it and together with those spices, made a very scrumptious pudding which I ate all by myself with cream, tasting equally good, hot or cold!

I love your “crispy” way of describing every day life! Congratulations!
This is a beautiful insight to the simple pleasures of life. Thank you for sharing.
Love that photo with the untied shoelaces, and apple bread pudding, delicious!!
that's a detail I notice, too, and that made me appreciate that photo even more, so authentic and spontaneous!
From a part of the world we, in my neck of the woods, hear too little about. Thank you for sharing.

Bellissimo! I agree, Sarah Copeland is great food writer and now I’m following her too ! Thank you for your sharing.
These are the stories we need more of - food, family, connection. We need them in our hearts, to be shared around tables. Thank you for sharing.
I've read recipe and instructions twice. Did you forget to mention to butter bread slices with 2 tblsp of butter before cutting up?
I think that butter is for the dish, but we'll ask Sarah to be extra sure!
