I visited Florence & the Duomo with my husband first, celebrating our 30th anniversary and it did take our breath away! The following year, when our daughter spent a semester in Florence, her apartment was on a side street across from the duomo, so i just HAD to spend a week with her😎 It was so fun to see the city through her eyes, to shop at the local mercado and to cook in her kitchen! Can't wait to go back again!!
My trip to Italy did not include a visit to Florence. My sister was fortunate to visit Florence and she loved the City and all it offers. It's on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing.
I opened the email and the photo took my breath away!!
I have visited Florence many times in the last 10 yrs, and every single time that first sight of the Duomo, as one comes around a certain corner, ALWAYS takes my breath away and makes my heart skip a beat.
I am totally in love with Italy but my heart belongs to Firenze❤️
I have climbed the 463 steps through the dome 3 times and the campanile twice.
My most recent visit was planned for Sept/Oct 2020, but alas was cancelled due to Covid19.
Im am so looking forward to being back there in 2023… to have my breath taken away again by that first glimpse of the Duomo. 💜💜💜
I visited Florence many years ago. I am ready to have ‘my breath taken away’ again. I loved my short time Florence and I do hope I will be able to visit again for longer this time.
Dave and are currently in Florence! We enjoyed the Donatello exhibit and the statue of Perseus holding Medusa’s head. Fruits and vegetables at the Mercado were as awesome as the ones We purchased for the cooking class. Lots of people but not as crazy as might be though I’d love to be here in late September.
I visited Florence many years ago. And to be honest I was flabergasted by the beauty of this city. The colour, the architecture. I saw the Duemo and a museum but also walk nowhere in the littles streets. I hope that I will come back and discover some orther treasures. Yvonne from Montréal, Canada.
Yes,I went to Florence to demonstrate against the reopening of a landfill site, and I was just walking and talking and I saw this same view. I couldn’t speak. I took a photo, but couldn’t capture the beauty and splendour of the duomo.
I have been several times and my favorite was in November. My daughter was there in a study abroad semester and I went to visit for a week in November. The weather was mild, no crowds and it was so interesting to be there during “real life” instead of tourist season. And the Duomo? Always breathtaking! To just come upon it as if it’s just another church and not a magnificent work of art is always a surprise. Florence is a beautiful city!
I first saw the Duomo aged 13 when my family moved to Florence from London. Was awestruck! Still am whenever I see it!

I have never been but it’s on my list - love your posts 💞
Have not been yet. I will definitely need Gelato after climbing those stairs!
Yes, it is definitely a good idea 😁
