You must be a magic tomato fairy! Yesterday I went for a walk in my very suburban neighborhood thinking about this post and there was a small fruit and veg stand that was selling boxes of tomatoes! I was wishing for that and there is was! I've never seen someone set up a kiosk like that under some trees, beside a religious building so people leaving after service could buy produce. I now have 8 + kilos of tomatoes waiting for me to try some of these recipes.

Hi Giulia! So happy to see pomodori a mezzo, because I love them! So simple, but so delicious. I first tried them, because my Milanese partner cooked them for me, after he learned the recipe from his grandfather who had gastronomia in Milan in the 60' and 70'. The recipe was simple, as it should be. Chopped capers and anchovies go into tomato hollows, and then sprinkled with Parmigiano Reggiano. (His grandfather has origins in Parma, so of course he would use the king of cheeses). They are then slowly cooked on a low heat and covered, so the tomatoes cook and the cheese melts. Chef's kiss.

Mmmm! So many great recipes! Such generosity! I don't know if anything beats standing in my garden, barefoot, and picking the tomato that calls to me the most seductively, then turning in my hand, the better to learn it's shape, to wonder at it's beauty, taking in it's warm perfume, then i take a bite, a generous bite, then another. Messy, hopefully and utterly glorious! Now my garden is a bit overgrown with raspberries, black and red so my favorite place to get a tomato experience is at the market where I'll pick the one that calls to my from the basket on display, then I'll go get some fresh bread and other temptations and find a spot to sit and make a picnic with the tomato as the Star! I always have my Swiss army knife with me so I'm prepared! Next time I'll get some tinned mackerel from Les Douceurs du Marché which at the Atwater Market in Montréal. I'll have to try some of these recipes!

My orto holds several San Marzano and Roma tomato plants. As they come on (ripen), I wish to make an authentic marinara sauce for canning. So many recipes out there on the web. Can you suggest one? I recently purchased a carton of Colavita Marinara pasta sauce. Just to try it. It is actually very good. I would like to duplicate it. Any suggestions would be grand. Thx.

I don’t know why I have never thought to make a tomato risotto but I certainly will be now as the first fruit have ripened in the garden this week! Thank you.

I cannot wait to try these! We just have the first tomato flowers here, and then it's a race to have them ripen before our September frost hits. These recipes will be so delicious to use up those sun kissed tomatoes!
