I’m going to start saving all my orange peels. 😊 it’s hard for me to find citron. I bought some lemons. I’ll candy those but what do you use candied lemon in? Also if I am doing both oranges and lemons should they be in separate pots? I can’t wait to start. I may have to peel a bunch of oranges. Maybe make a cake💕

I'd use lemons for a citrussy pound cake, but also in a brioche!

And yes, you should be using two separate pots, as time of candying may vary according to the thickness of the peels!

Candied lemons are lovely in madeleines.

Now I want to make lemon peels, too!

I came to ask the same question, a friend came to dinner and brought me a jar of candied lemon rinds she’d made 💛

Thank you!

Candied lemon and pistachio in the cream inside a cannoli! Really easy after you have candied the lemon and frozen the shells in advance.

Do you chop the candied fruit to use in a pound cake? Lemon pound cake is a favorite. How do I incorporate candied lemon?

Giulia Scarpaleggia's avatar

I would finely mince it and mix it into the batter at the end!

This is me, every year. (And I thought I had invented the orange powder trick haha). I make herb powder and mushroom powder too btw. They end up looking like jars of pure pigment.

What a beautiful image, jars of pure pigment! I need to make herb powder, too!

Ah, Santa Maria Novella! We have seen the basilica and the museo and had a drink in the piazza, but did not go into the profumo. We stayed in a small hotel on Via Del Giglio.

I've made the orange powder before, but having read your super post I'm going to make it again!
