Thank you Giulia. This will be very helpful in the future. The bonus recipes are fantastic! I look forward to making one of them this weekend. Congrats on the book.
I felt the joy reading this...and it added fuel to the excitement I’m already feeling for our fall visit.
I lived in the edge of Piazza Tasso a thousand years ago for a bit (ok, mid 80s). It’s changed so much--I’m looking forward to trying the gelateria for sure.
And we loved Il Santo Bevitore!
In fact, one of my best food memories from a trip a while ago--we were walking and hungry in that awful way that happens when traveling. Pushing noses to windows and deciding “no not here” and getting more and more desperate and cranky....when we stumbled on il Santino, their wine bar. And there were seats! We had the most delicious platters of tuscan pecorino cheeses, ribollita, and if course wine. It was the first time I tasted onion jam!
It is a treat to see both of you enjoying yourselves in Florence. Thanks for the tips on where to have a bite to eat along with your suggestions for what to eat! Hoping to be back sometime this coming spring. (PS. so looking forward to your book as I've placed an order when it's ready to ship!) Ciao
That really would be amazing. On Instagram I 'save' such posts in a folder marker 'travel'. Can't see any similar way to do this on Substack but if you find one let me know!
We were in Florence this past October and had a wonderful dinner at Sostanza- I had the famous butter chicken and my husband the bistecca alla Fiorentina and both were terrific. Very different from the Italian restaurants we’ve experienced on many trips to Italy- no espresso! No white wine! Two seatings and no you don’t own your table - when your time is up you’re politely ushered out for the next bunch to come in. Nevertheless we enjoyed every minute and every bite.
Reading this one way too late at night, in bed, and suddenly starved for a perfect pastry, a plate of pici, and gelato, of course. love this!!
So I hope you had sweet Tuscan dreams!
