Loved reading these updates (except the one about your blog disappearing on Google - WTF). The entirety of search is so bizarre at the moment and I hate it.. but anyway, that's so cool that you guys have an Italian book club and glad to see the new project renovations are coming along. I've also earmarked that chicken recipe and ratatouille by Melissa Clark. Happy September to you all!
Hi - I have just read a really good Italian crime novel: Il cielo degli Invisibili by Francois Morlupi (not translated yet… ); set in Rome today, really well plotted with highly sympathetic characters. I am now going to track down Morlupi’s other books.
ahah! so you know that the very first paid job my dad had as a kid was collecting fresh juniper berries to sell? Well I don't collect the fresh ones, I just sniff them during my walk, and then use my dried ones! :P
I made both of the recipes tonight and served the peppers with some buratta. Very delicious! The chicken will be a staple this fall. Thanks for sharing Giulia!
Thank you for the update and recipes to welcome autumn - my favorite season! I will be putting all of them in my menu for this week. I’m especially excited because I bought a little container of juniper berries when I was in Italy this spring! I forgot what I was going to use them for - but now they have a purpose. Can’t wait to see more of the renovation project. Tanti auguri per una bellissima scuola anno a Livia! (Did I say that right??).

Happy September to you, Georgette! I was so looking forward to this month! And yes, do try that ratatouille, it’s fabulous!

Interesting! Thank you, checking it now!
I cannot wait to make this chicken recipe.
It’s funny but I have never cooked with juniper berries! I think we have a jar that Laura uses in pickles.
What a hard working August you had (and in that heat!).
Did you mean to use fresh juniper berries? Or are jarred ones ok?
I use juniper berries from a jar, but they are simply dry, not pickled or preserved in any other way!
Oh good! When. I noticed the photo of them I thought oh goodness I’ll never find that here 😂
