Ciao Giulia and thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute to your Nonna. It brought tears to my eyes as I remembered cooking with own Nonna and Zie, who were from Istria and are all gone now as well. They introduced me to cooking and from that I develop a passion for cooking. So happy that you have decided to resume the podcast. I look forward to tuning in.
I just read her lasagne and ragu recipe. I can’t wait to try the ragu with the dried mushrooms. My daughter studied abroad in Tuscany, in 2010, and the ragu recipe is identical(minus the mushrooms) to the one she learned to cook while in Italy. We love the recipe.
Thank you Giulia, hearing you read that was extra special. I also grew up in my Grandmother's home. So thank you for those warm feelings of being close to her.
A truly lovely tribute that made me think of my own grandmothers, picking tomatoes and snapping green beans, making apple dumplings. A teary-eyed thank you for sharing such tender moments. I look forward to part 2.
Losing a nonna is always such a huge pain. But she will live through you, Livia, and the small gestures and love you bring in your cooking. Thanks for sharing this with us!
This letter is full of love, and it moved me. I still haven't gotten over the death and legacy of my maternal grandmother, who passed away when we were both too young. And if I always write about her, it's because I always feel her with me. In my head, but also in my hands, in my gestures, in my hair, which hasn't turned white yet, despite my age, and which I inherited from her. Thank you for this piece, which reminds me once again that time does not pass in vain for those who embrace their history and know how to give it cultural and therefore universal value. P.S. As Marcella, even nonna Sara had the Talisman, but for her, Artusi and, later, Suor Germana were two untouchable references!
I don’t know why but every time I think about my grandmothers cooking, brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing this Julia! I feel like I need to try to spend more time with my Nonna (I still have both of them) but often I get into working duties … and voila, time flies! Lots of love for you

An absolutely beautiful tribute-- the pictures are perfect as well. All of the magic of Italy is in this story.
