You have lovely memories and stories to share with your children. I love small places that are steeped in history and am pleased that you are able to go back there too.
I recharge in my home surroundings where we have a small acreage that is balm for the soul.
Thankyou for sharing a little of your past with us. :))
What a beautiful place to grow up. There are many towns like this in Abruzzo, too. They are struggling and my hope is that slow tourism helps to revive at least some of them.
Our favorite place to recharge with family is Locanda Rosati, an agritourismo in Orvieto. We have been going there since Luca was 3! He is now 26. Over the years the first warm welcome
That we received has turned into a deep friendship.
Thank you Tommaso I loved hearing about your early life. Mine could not be more different
But it’s my ‘soul place’ in my memory. I was brought up for many years at the water dam that supplied the water supply to Darwin in the Northern Territory in Australia. My brother and I were
Little but we roamed like wild children. The army had left all their equipment and vehicles in the surrounding bush so it was a wonderful adventure for us.
I keep it as my place to go in my mind because of the beautiful expanse of water, the fun trying to cash fish in the river formed by the overflow from the dam. There were only 2 houses, that’s it.
The quiet wilderness and lack of rules as well as our imagination is the best place to go back to.
Beautiful story filled with history. Where do I go to refresh my soul and recharge? Since we live in the Rocky Mountains on a beautiful piece of land, home is my resting and recharging place.
Portugal by the sea . A place called Canerios
Such lovely memories, but I am so sad about this village. Heart breaking ...

Lovely image and wonderful story. For me, I recharge my soul near the ocean. Just sitting and listening to the waves is all it takes.

Leaving for Rome in a week from Seattle, Wa. Will rent in Loro Cuiffennia. Would that be too far away? I don't think so.🤔
Love;y story and photos with a hint of sadness.
How nice to be able to return there with your own little family. Sounds like a peaceful place.
